In Latin, vita nova means “new life,” and that motto is also Doris Piccariello’s approach to her life and business. When she bought the established Vita Nova Medical Spa in 2010, she was recently divorced, and she had to trust in her faith—and hard work—to reinvent a new life for herself and her family.
After purchasing the business, she hired a nurse and a receptionist, and then she worked hard to get the word out about Vita Nova. Her daughter graduated from college in 2012 and helped Piccariello with the marketing, which grew the business.
"It’s truly a family-run business. We learned a lot of lessons the hard way," said Piccariello. "But after we moved to our current location at 9705 Liberia Avenue in Manassas in 2017, we had room to expand and make it easier for our patients to visit us. We have been on an upward trend ever since."
Vita Nova Medical Spa offers an extensive menu of treatments, catering to a diverse array of needs and desires. Whether you seek to refresh your skin, release tension, or simply unwind, the spa has something for everyone. Some of their most popular treatments include facial rejuvenation, massage therapy, body contouring, laser hair removal, cosmetic injectables, and wellness and holistic therapies.
The spa's ambiance is designed to evoke a sense of serenity, setting the stage for the ultimate wellness experience. Piccariello is committed to providing personalized treatments for her clients, and her team provides tailored consultations to better understand clients’ unique needs and preferences.
“It’s important that our patients feel comfortable from the minute they walk in the door,” said Piccariello. “Our décor, music, and private rooms all contribute to a calming experience.”
Day spas can provide cosmetic services, but medical spas have a doctor associated with the practice and adhere to the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and sterilization with a team of licensed professionals.
Piccariello believes her dedication to ongoing education and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in the industry ensure not only her clients receive top-notch care, but also her team. As the business continues to expand, she hopes one day to found the first licensed aesthetician school in the county.
“There are not many schools to become an aesthetician in Northern Virginia and none in Prince William County,” said Piccariello. “I think it could be a great opportunity for young people to learn the skills and earn the credentials to provide them with a solid career path.”
Piccariello is excited to welcome this new horizon, but she is enjoying both professional and family success for now. Her grandchildren’s artwork decorates the same office walls where you can learn the spa has been voted the Best Medical Spa in Northern Virginia Magazine in 2022 and 2023.
"I’m very grateful to be here in Prince William County," said Piccariello. "The county has been incredible to deal with, particularly during COVID. I’m also extremely grateful to my loyal staff. Without my team’s dedication and passion for their work, we wouldn’t still be here."
