Written by Prince William County | May 14, 2024

The Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism (PWCDEDT)'s 2023 Annual Report will take centerstage at the upcoming Make Your Mark Business Community Celebration on Thursday, May 16.

Attendees at the event will take home the department's first printed annual report since 2017 and readers can browse the online version with embedded videos and digital resources.

Designed to show the department’s strategic goals aligned to projects and programs completed within the 2023 calendar year, the report also shares project successes and economic trends. The department won 31 projects last year, adding $1.9 billion in intended capital investment along with 641 new and 777 retained jobs in the county.

"Each year, we take a moment to pause during Business Appreciation Month and look back on our accomplishments as an entire community – businesses, partners, and government agencies,” said Christina Winn, executive director, PWCDEDT. “This report amplifies the enormous potential in Prince William County by not only sharing significant achievements, but also showcasing our goals with potential investors, businesses and residents."

Originally debuted in 2023, the Make Your Mark brand and theme has been deepened this year by adding education and visibility elements, including hosting the first small business conference, the Calibrate Conference on April 29 with more than 150 small businesses in attendance.

Also this year, PWCDEDT partnered with WTOP News 103.7 and WAMU 88.5 to spotlight the stories of 12 entrepreneurs who have not only thrived, but also contributed significantly to their communities, thanks in part to the support and resources provided by Prince William County's economic development initiatives.

From the 2023 Annual Report to events and radio campaigns, the Make Your Mark theme highlights the resilience, creativity, and community spirit that define our supportive ecosystem, where businesses of all sizes and industries can thrive.
