Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZones) were created in 1998 to help small businesses gain access to federal contracts. The federal government limits competition for certain contracts to HUBZone-qualified businesses and it gives preferential consideration to those same businesses in full and open competition.
Earlier this summer, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) updated the national HUBZone map. Firms addressing the loss of their HUBZone status should investigate all the requirements and engage with the SBA and the HUBZone Council. They may also consider moving their "principal office" to a new location.
Prince William County, which offers a variety of options with geographical convenience for employees and contracting vehicle requirements, has options from Class A buildings, office options, and small lease options.
