Manisha Morris of MSM Technology was presented with the 2024 U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Virginia Richmond District Office Small Business Person of the Year award today at the inaugural Calibrate Conference for small businesses in Manassas, Virginia.
Located in Quantico, MSM Technology specializes in infrastructure design and modernization, network and systems engineering, cybersecurity, project management, and training. The firm is 8(a), HUBZone, and Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) certified.
"This award is such a great honor because it really helps me feel like I've used all the tools that Mason Small Business Development Center (Mason SBDC) had to offer and really helped me grow my business and become that small business owner that I strive to be,” said Morris.
As part of the SBA’s National Small Business Week celebration, Morris was nominated for the award by the Mason SBDC based on her business development.
"We are thrilled for Manisha to win this award based on her ability to navigate the federal government space and successfully launch a strong cybersecurity practice with several federal agencies," said Timm Johnson, director, Mason SBDC. "She has taken the time to work on her business, both investing her time in business counseling as well as our taking classes in organizational development, access to capital, pricing, and financial management."
The Mason SBDC offers free education, resources, and counseling for Prince William County businesses. At the one-day Calibrate Conference, Mason SBDC presented breakout sessions courses on access to capital, human resources, financial management, and marketing.
Morris participated in the Meet the Maker panel, featuring other successful Prince William County business owners.
"Congratulations to Manisha and thank you for being such a vibrant example of how our businesses can and should take time to calibrate their strategic growth for their future,” said Christina Winn, executive director, Prince William County Department of Economic Development and Tourism. “In addition to the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, Mason SBDC was a host of our first Calibrate Conference, and this event really emphasizes the need to bring our communities together to encourage better access, education, and connection.”
