The Prince William County Department of Economic Development (PWCDED) is excited to share their 2021 Annual Report in a new, interactive online format featuring embedded videos. In addition to updates across the department’s program and services, the report shares the completion of 24 projects, expected to add $741 million in capital investment along with 672 new jobs and 385 retained jobs to the county.
"It’s been a breakneck pace for our department, and this was our first chance to produce a robust annual report since I took the helm of the department almost three years ago,” said Christina Winn, executive director, PWCDED. “Although we want to report on our significant achievements, I also want our businesses, potential investors, and residents to see this report as a glimpse into our future and the potential pipeline for Prince William County."
Home to more than 10,000 businesses, which provide more than 130,000 jobs to residents, the county is also calling attention to and acknowledging the impact businesses have on the local economy. Today the Prince William Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) proclaimed May 2022 as Business Appreciation Month.
PWCDED invited the following businesses, all recipients of BOCS-approved recovery efforts over the last two years, to be present at the ceremony to accept the proclamation:
The BOCS further recognized the accomplishments of existing businesses, entrepreneurs, small, minority and women-owned businesses, nonprofits and the major employers that contribute to the county’s economic recovery.
As part of month-long celebration, PWCDED is embracing the theme of Re!magine, recognizing the resiliency, ingenuity, and creativity of the Prince William County business community. In addition to showcasing small businesses, the department is focusing on the targeted industries of government contracting, information technology, and life sciences for showcase storytelling.
