Scaling Curiosity, a life sciences video essay from the Prince William County Department of Economic Development (PWCDED), has earned an Emmy® Award nomination from The National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The nomination falls under the Health/Medical – Long Form category of the 65th Emmy Awards, set to be held on June 24 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
The series explores the county’s history developing a bioscience hub at the heart of Innovation Park in Manassas, Virginia. Featuring real county businesses owners, including Bacchus Therapeutics, Capra Biosciences, and iQ Genetix, the essay investigates the unique business ecosystem components that contribute to the life cycle of biotech companies.
"Without a doubt, our marketing team has helped change public perceptions of Prince William County over the last three years,” said Christina Winn, executive director, PWCDED. “By finding and telling the stories that matter most, they are showcasing the innovators that keep Prince William County growing."
Since its premiere in September 2022, Scaling Curiosity has been an essential marketing component for attracting wet lab tenants, collaborators, and new capital investment in the life sciences sector.
“We're thrilled to earn our first Emmy nomination for Scaling Curiosity, a project that truly speaks to the pioneering spirit of Prince William County," said Trevor Johnson, director of marketing & communications, PWCDED. "This recognition validates our commitment to telling the compelling stories of biotech bootstrappers in our region, and we're eager to see this spark a broader conversation in our regional media markets about the dynamism and growth of the life sciences industry here in Prince William County.”
This marks a notable milestone for PWCDED as they receive their first Emmy nomination.
