In two weeks, the international golf world will turn its attention to Prince William County and the LPGA Solhiem Cup being battled out  at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club (RTJ) in Gainesville, Virginia from September 12 to 15.

Oh – did we mention these are the best American and European women golfers in the world?

"We are at a powerful moment for women in golf—and for parity in professional sports overall, especially after watching the Paris Olympics this summer," said Erika Larkin, who stars in a new Prince William County commercial highlighting outdoor opportunities in the region.

Larkin is
a top-50 rated PGA Teaching Professional and author of A True Swing. She is also a Prince William business owner and resident, who spent eight years teaching at Stonewall Golf Club, next door to RTJ. She currently teaches as Director of Instruction at The Club at Creighton Farms.

"It was great to work with the county staff to showcase more amenities than many people know our community has here."

Almost a million American women and girls started playing golf in the last five years, and the fanbase has exploded to more than 7 million women players. The Solheim Cup tournament is expected to bring capacity crowds and nearly 150,000 fans to Gainesville, with ticket holders parking at Jiffy Lube Live and taking shuttle service to the course.

"I hope some of these fans stay in the area, eat at our restaurants, and play our local courses,” says Alan Smith, program director, First Tee Prince William. "I hope locals start to see how much Prince William County is growing. Not only do we have a great program that kids from all backgrounds can take advantage of, but also nine fantastic public golf courses across our county for families and friends to enjoy together."
